Spring is in the air and with it come beautiful, new sights! I got to experience snow for the first time, attended Los Lowriders' first photo exhibition, and got a little healthier. In the last post, I mentioned my piece, "Intercambios" holding residency at the Los Angeles Municipal Art Gallery. The experience was as wonderful as I imagined (if not better) as my artwork hanged at the top for all to see. I'm beyond grateful and appreciate these moments that help give my art to people from all walks of life. Unfortunately, the story goes different this time with The Mexican Consulate of Los Angeles.
I had refrained from sharing this last year, but an incident happened again. In 2023, the consulate reached out to me so I can submit a piece for residency. Unfortunately, they never received my e-mail and after countless attempts with their team to find a place for my work, the painting never made it in. This year, they reached out again personally and I went through their portal. Once again, that piece also got lost in their system. After getting no response, I sent them an email only to receive the template of a rejection letter. No attempt to help fix their issue this time.
As frustrating as the past two experiences were, I took it as a message from the universe saying, "Your art was already here once and needs to go to new places". Now, I focus on myself, reflect it in the art, and guide it to wherever life takes it.
Despite everything, it feels wonderful writing and creating again. After taking a blogging and YouTube hiatus, I found a surprising amount of visits to the blog and channel! ¡La primavera está en el aire y con ella vienen hermosas y nuevas vistas! Pude experimentar la nieve por primera vez, asistí a la primera exposición fotográfica de Los Lowriders y ¡me volví un poco más saludable! En el último post mencioné mi pieza "Intercambios" realizando una residencia en la Galería de Arte Municipal de Los Ángeles. La experiencia fue tan maravillosa como me imaginaba (si no mejor), ya que mi obra de arte colgó en la parte superior para que todos la vieran. Estoy más que agradecido y aprecio estos momentos que ayudan a llevar mi arte a personas de todos los ámbitos de la vida.
La historia es diferente esta vez con el Consulado de México en Los Ángeles. Me había abstenido de compartir lo que pasó el año pasado, pero volvió a ocurrir un incidente. En 2023, el consulado se acercó a mí para que pudiera presentar una pieza para la residencia. Desafortunadamente, nunca recibieron mi correo electrónico y después de innumerables intentos con su equipo para encontrar un lugar para mi trabajo, la pintura no pudo ser parte del evento. Este año, se comunicaron personalmente conmigo y visité su portal. Una vez más, mi pieza se perdió en su sistema. Después de no recibir respuesta, les envié un correo electrónico solo para recibir una copia de carta de rechazo. Esta vez no intentaron ayudar para resolver el problem.
A pesar de lo frustrante que fueron las dos experiencias anteriores, lo tomé como un mensaje del universo que decía: "Tu arte ya estuvo aquí una vez y necesita ir a nuevos lugares". . Ahora me enfoco en mí misma, lo reflejo en el arte y lo guío hacia donde la vida me lleve.
A pesar de todo, se siente maravilloso escribir y crear de nuevo. Después de una pausa en el blog y en YouTube, ¡encontré una sorprendente cantidad de visitas al blog y al canal!
